2022 Redistricting Using 2020 Census Data
La información en esta página está disponible en Español.
After a series of public hearings, the District transitioned from “at-large” to “by-division” elections of its Board of Directors and established the boundaries of each division in August of 2019 (For more information on the 2019 process, visit our 2019 By-Division Election System Page). Elections Code Section 22000 et seq. requires the Board to adjust its electoral division boundaries based on the federal census that occurs every ten years to ensure that electoral divisions are, as far as practicable, equal in population and comply with federal voting laws. The results from the 2020 Decennial Census were released in September 2021, enabling the District to begin its redistricting process to adopt new division boundaries. This redistricting process was completed on February 15, 2022, after two public hearings on January 18, 2022 and February 15, 2022. For more information on the 2022 redistricting process, including the approved map, see below.
