Backflow Prevention and Cross-Connection Control
In order to protect the water delivered to customers from contamination in the distribution system, NMWD has a comprehensive Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention program. NMWD staff identify areas or properties where risks might exist, categorize those risks, and require appropriate backflow prevention assemblies at service connections to reduce or eliminate risk.
You may need to have your property evaluated and have the proper backflow assembly installed at your service connection after a survey has been completed. Common causes for a required backflow prevention assembly at the service connection may be, but are not limited to:
- An auxiliary water supply (such as a well)
- A pump due to low pressure
- A water storage tank
- Dock side water facilities
All commercial and industrial facilities are required to have a backflow prevention assembly installed at the meter.
More on NMWD’s Cross-Connection Control Program can be found here: Regulation 06.
Backflow Testers Information
The North Marin Water District is pleased to announce a new program that allows you to submit backflow test reports online. All testers are required to sign up and use the new system.
For new tester enrollment, please email backflow@nmwd.com
Registered user login: https://northmarinca.c3swift.com/
There will be no charge to submit tests through the SwiftComply portal.
Our goals with implementing this software include improved compliance, an increase in on-time backflow tests, and to offer web based test report submittal.
