Pump Station Assessment

The District’s 2025 Novato Water System Master Plan Update establishes a “Risk Score” for each of the 25 pump stations within the system. The Risk Scores were calculated using a weighted equation that considers factors for both likelihood of failure (LOF) and consequence of failure (COF) of each facility.

• Risk Score = 0.6 (LOF) + 0.4 (COF)

The criteria used to develop these Risk Scores were based on information readily available at the time the Master Plan was prepared.

Given the relative cost of pump station rehabilitation projects, District staff is performing an in-depth assessment of certain facilities to collect additional information about existing pump station conditions. These efforts will be used to refine the relative Risk Scores and prioritize upcoming projects.
